Fall themed PlanetBoxes

We are officially one week into fall!  It's time for a fall themed lunch.  These lunches are a spin off from the fall lunch in my book Happy Bento!  Today's lunches are almost identical with just a couple of things swapped out for taste preferences.

In this bento:  Steamed broccoli, grape tomatoes, fruit salad (strawberries, green grapes, and leaf shaped cantaloupe), blueberry pancakes, cheese sauce for dipping in the small red container, & syrup for the pancakes.

As you can see, the second lunch is pretty much the same.  The differences are plain pancakes instead of blueberry pancakes and a cheese stick (cut in half) instead of cheese dipping sauce.

One day I will get both of my kids to eat the same exact lunch!!

Under the Sea

I bought a new set of plunger cutters a few weeks ago.  They are what inspired this under the sea themed bento lunch.

In this bento:  Sea creature turkey sandwiches (seahorse, octopus, & starfish) on top of cheese crackers, black grapes decorated with a dolphin cupcake pick, yogurt covered star cookies, baby carrots, and ranch dressing for dipping in the small blue container.

Hotel Transylvania 2

Hotel Transylvania 2 starts playing in theaters this Friday!  My kids are beyond excited about seeing this movie.  We have a copy of the first Hotel Transylvania on blu-ray that we have watched numerous times.  To celebrate the new movie release a few of my bento blogger friends & I have gotten together for a Hotel Transylvania 2 blog hop.  Click on the button at the bottom to follow along to see all Hotel Transylvania themed food.

First up is a Mavis bento for my daughter.

Packed up in our owl CuteZcute bento box is black beans with a layer of rice on top.  I did tint the rice a light pink fleshy color with natural coloring but you can't really tell in the photo.  I used nori for the hair, mouth, and eyelashes.  They eyes are cheese colored with food markers and the teeth are rice grains.  The sides packed are rainbow baby carrots and green grapes adorned with a bat pick and a beware sign.

And we can't forget about the main star in Hotel Transylvania 2, Dennis!

Dennis is a turkey and cheese sandwich.  He also has cheese eyes colored with food markers, carrot eyebrows, olive smile, and bread ears.  Many carrot curls make up his curly red hair.  Underneath the curls is an orange triangle shaped cup containing baby carrots used as a support for all that hair.  Grape tomatoes, ranch dressing, a bat shaped egg, and blueberries decorated with spooky eyes complete this lunch that is packed up in our Bentgo Kids lunchbox.

Now hop on over to Green Lunches, Green Kids and see what Transylvania food Sarah has concocted.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates

Tomorrow is Talk Like A Pirate Day!  I wanted to make fun pirate themed lunches for my kids today.  I procrastinated and did not make lunches last night before I went to bed, but I managed to pull myself out of bed this morning and put these together :)  I came across some Jake and the Neverland Pirates cupcake rings on clearance yesterday at a grocery store that is going out of business in my town.  I bought them, so I decided on Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed bentos for this year's Talk Like A Pirate Day.  Poor Jake did not make it into the bentos though.

In this bento:  Ham, salami, and marbled cheese sandwich.  The sandwich is adorned with Captain Hook.  He is made from ham, salami, marbled cheese, swiss cheese, olives, and a hook food pick. Packed in the side compartments are green grapes decorated with a Cubby cupcake ring, grape tomatoes, and chocolate covered sunflower seeds in the treasure chest.

In this bento:  Bean, rice, & cheese burrito - I was running short on time so I quickly sketched Skully onto a burrito with food coloring markers, green grapes decorated with an Izzy cupcake ring, rainbow baby carrots, and chocolate covered sunflower seeds in the treasure chest.
