PlanetBox BottleRocket Review

I received notice today that the PlanetBox BottleRocket went on sale.  In light of this, I thought it was high time for me to get my review of the BottleRocket posted.  The awesome folks at PlanetBox sent me a BottleRocket for my kids to trial for a review.  The result is unanimous, everyone loves it.  We loved it so much that I ended up purchasing an additional BottleRocket for my daughter when PlanetBox had their 7% off anything Labor Day sale.  The current sale is $10 off any BottleRocket, good through 10/11/15.  Hurry!

On to the review!  We have been using our BottleRocket daily since the middle of summer.  It is our go to water bottle when we are on the run.   We have used it during soccer practice & games, hiking, dance class, and even at the movie theater.  It also works great as a night time water bottle.  My daughter is really particular about her water being cold when she drinks it and has gotten up in the middle of the night to refresh her drink bottle with cold water.  Now with the BottleRocket her water stays nice and cool all night long.  The BottleRocket is double walled and vacuum insulated keeping your drink cold (or warm) for hours.  The button on the front of the cap springs the top open quickly for drinking.  There is also a metal latch that can be engaged to prevent accidental cap opening while being carried in your bag.  Great feature!

There are no straws!  Another feature that I love because my daughter has bitten through a couple of our Thermos Funtainer straws.  The BottleRocket features a free flowing spot made from silicone with a silicone stopper that adheres to the cap - this makes the bottle leak-proof.  The silicone completely covers the underside of the cap so that no liquid comes in contact with any plastic pieces.

Over the course of our trial, we did manage to have one snafu.  When we first received the BottleRocket we were strictly using it at home and for our extracurricular activities.  After a few weeks I decided I would send it off to preschool with my son.  When I picked him up the cap was cracked & broken.  Apparently, it had been pushed off the lunch table by someone else and the cap  broke from it's tumble down to the floor.  Thank goodness for PlanetBox's amazing customer service.  They quickly sent out a replacement cap to me :)  No further mishaps have occurred.

Pros -

    NO straws
    Does not sweat
No plastic in contact with drink
    Vacuum insulated
    Easy open cap
    Dishwasher safe
    PlanetBox's awesome customer service!

Cons -

Shape - at first glance the rocket shape of the bottle resembles something......ahem....else.
Price - regular retail price of $28 a pop, these are definitely on the pricey side.

Right now you can snag them for $18 per bottle.  If you have been wanting a BottleRocket I advise you to purchase now because it is a rarity that PlanetBox has a sale.  I am contemplating buying two more, that is how awesome they truly are.

Disclosure - PlanetBox sent me one BottleRocket to trial for the purpose of this review.  No financial compensation was received.  All opinions expressed are mine based on my own use of the product.

  1. Your blog is bad for my wallet! (In a good way :)) What a great bottle - I love the idea of not having a straw to clean. I'm sure I'll end up taking advantage of this sale before it's over!
