Real Life

There are good days and bad days.  This picture shows one of those days!  I shared the above picture on Instagram on the day this occurred (before the holidays).  Today I am posting the lunches that were made on that day.  The house was left in a mess.  The dog is saying, "I did not do this!"  The papers on the floor were dumped out of my daughter's backpack in my desperate last minute search to find her library book that needed to be returned to school that day. :-/  I normally pack lunches the night before but I fell asleep on the couch that night, before the task was done, so I left it for the morning.   Despite all the chaos and rushing around that morning I was still able to take a couple of minutes to throw together bentos for my kids. (They do insist on eating lunch every day.)

Lunch in a rush #1 -

In this bento:  An Applegate hot dog cut into pieces, apple chunks, and edamame.  This lunch is packed in our matryoshka bento box that I bought at Daiso Japan.

We had to rush off to get sister to the bus stop that morning.  After the bus came I had a couple of spare minutes to "cute'n up" my son's lunch before taking him to preschool.

In this bento:  Edamame "nest", yellow sunburst tomatoes "eggs", apple slices, blackberries, and sausage.

  1. It doesn't always have to be a production. This still looks plenty appetizing!
