It's Kitty - Hello Kitty

It has been a while since we had a Hello Kitty bento.  My daughter received a couple of Hello Kitty DVDs for Christmas.  Her little brother is less than thrilled about these videos.  He tries his best to sit with his sister and watch but about half way through the DVD he starts shouting "no more kitty" and starts shaking his head no.  LOL!  It is too funny.

In this lunch:  Orange slices, Hello Kitty rice crackers, baby carrots, turkey, cucumber slices, and a piece of a cheese stick with a stamped on Hello Kitty face and a bow pick.

"To Infinity and Beyond"

Bento fun today featuring Buzz Lightyear with a "to infinity and beyond" themed lunch.

In this lunch:  Buzz Lightyear turkey sandwich on top of pretzel crisps, strawberries with alien picks, cucumber slices with a space ship pick, and baby carrots.

The Toy Story alien picks were purchased at Tokyo Disney last year (a friend sent them to me). Unfortunately, I have heard reports that they are no longer available there.  The Buzz Lightyear cookie cutter is from Disney Cakes & Sweets.  If you live in Europe or Australia then you are in luck.  You can have this magazine delivered to your door and every issue comes with a fun little tool.  I scored my copy with Toy Story cookie cutter set on eBay!

While I was watermarking the photo of this bento, I realized that it is the exact same layout as my minion lunch from last week!

O is for Owl

It has been a while since I did a "letter" themed lunch.  I am really hoping to finish the alphabet before school gets out this year.  Lets face it, two school years seems like long enough to get through all the letters of the alphabet.  I was reviewing my previous alphabet lunches and noticed that "O" was somehow skipped over, so todays lunch will fill that gap and there is only Y & Z left!!!

In this lunch:  Owl sandwiches with carrot beaks and feet and  food picks for the eyes.  One has turkey in it and the other has ham.  The rest of the lunch includes:  orange slices, strawberries, baby carrots, an "O" cookie, and cucumbers.  The cucumbers are stacked on each other to resemble feathers.

The lunch is sitting atop an owl Matkin (isn't it cute!!).  A review of Matkins is coming soon.

It's A Wrap!

A little twist on the normal sandwich today......

In this lunch:  Orange slices, strawberries, and a wrap.  The wrap is made from a tortilla, lettuce, green olives, banana peppers, artichoke hearts, ham, and turkey. (Basically, it is made from our leftover antipasto salad)

The plastic wrappers on the bottom of the wrap are circular and aside from jazzing up the lunch a little it does serve a function, it helps keep the wrap wrapped while my daughter is eating it.

Earth Day

Tomorrow is Earth Day!  I made a little earth themed bento for my girl.  I purposefully used only food that is grown from the dirt of our earth <3  I was racing the sun as it was falling from the sky tonight to get this bento made so I could photo it out in the natural light before it was gone.

In this lunch:  Broccoli, baby carrots, strawberries, and yellow cherry tomatoes.  The earth is made from black beans on the bottom of the cup, blue colored rice, and unshelled edamame continents.

I had intended on using my natural food coloring to color the rice blue, however, I discovered tonight that I don't have blue natural food coloring.  Since I was in a rush (racing against sunset) and already had this bento planned out in my head I used the food coloring I had on hand.

Happy Earth Day!

We love the fun little minions from Despicable Me.  We have watched both of the movies several times and making a minion bento has been on my to do list.

In this lunch:  Minion ham sandwich with cheese stick and nori details (the hair was drawn on with food markers), minion s'mores (graham crackers, cocoa almond butter, and marshmallow fluff), cucumbers, and strawberries.

Egg-cellent Lunch - Leftovers on Fridays

A little Easter twist for lunch today.  We packed up some leftover mac and cheese in our thermos and had a little fun with the sides......

In this lunch:  Annie's bunny mac and cheese, bunny hard boiled egg, baby carrots, bunny grahams, bunny gummies, strawberries, and cheese sticks cut into a bunny-ish shape with a little sausage cutter.

Packing a lunch in plastic Easter eggs is a super simple and fun treat for the kids that anybody can do!

Happy Easter!
