Turkey Day Appetizers

Impromptu post.  Happy Thanksgiving!  I ended up making this cute little turkey appetizer "tray?" and I think he is too cute not to share.  Enjoy your day.  Gobble Gobble!!!

What you need:   Two kinds of cheese (a white and a yellow one), black olives, a piece of red pepper, salami, toothpicks, and a whole pineapple.

Decorate the pineapple with the cheese, salami, and olives attaching to the pineapple with the toothpicks.  I took a couple of extra minutes to arrange the food into a turkey head shape on the front of the pineapple.

Thanksgiving Indian Bento

The Wampanoag Indians were the people who taught the pilgrims had to farm the land.  The first Thanksgiving was in 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians celebrated together after the first harvest.  This celebration lasted three days.  ~ Wikipedia

In this bento:  Pizza pocket sandwich - filled with pizza sauce, oregano, pepperoni, ham, and cheese.  The pocket sandwich is decorated with a little Indian made from mozzarella cheese, nori, and carrot.  Turkey shaped green bell pepper (the pepper was peeled), yellow sunburst tomatoes, baby carrots, black grapes, raspberries, and chocolate covered sunflower seeds to represent Thanksgiving corn.

In case you did not notice, I have a new lunchbox.  This new one is a Yumbox and they just released this new limited edition color 5th Avenue blue.  I have had my eye on the Yumbox for a little while now and when I saw they were coming out with this color I decided it was time to buy one.

This concludes the Thanksgiving bentos this year.  I will be taking next week off from blogging to spend some quality time with my family.  Happy Thanksgiving & see you in December :)

Snoopy's Thanksgiving Dinner

My daughter's school had their annual Thanksgiving school lunch and my daughter decided she did not want it and would bring her own lunch.  I can't say that I blame her!  School lunch Thanksgiving food does not sound that appealing to me either.  I thought it would be fun to send her with Snoopy's version of Thanksgiving :)!

In this bento:   Half a grilled cheese sandwich - representing the toast the snoopy made, pretzel sticks, popcorn, jelly beans (these are nerds jelly beans that I found in my pantry), kiwi slices, and green pepper slices.  No, the kiwi and green peppers were not served at the Snoopy Thanksgiving dinner but I wanted to up the nutritional value of this lunch :)

The Snoopy cupcake ring was found at a cake supply store.
