Sandwich Kabob

This bento is from the last few weeks of school.  I was running out of ideas and decided to try the sandwich kabob made using our FunBites square.

In this bento:  Orange slices, red grapes, cucumber slices, mini sweet peppers, and turkey sandwich kabobs.

Ladybugs in our bento lunch :)

In this bento:  Ladybug shaped hard boiled egg, salt in the small bottle, color goldfish, cucumber slices, orange slices, strawberries, edamame, and carrot coins.

Special thanks to Cristi of Bent On Better Lunches who sent me the ladybug egg mold.  She found it at her local Safeway during Easter season.  There are a few listed on ebay for ridiculous prices but at least you can see what it looks like.  The ladybug silicone cup can also be found on ebay.

Asia Day Bento

At the end of every semester my daughter's preschool has a pretend trip to the continent they have been studying.  So off the preschoolers went in their "airplane" to visit Asia.  I packed up an Asian food bento to take with her on her journey.  Of course I had to send some chopsticks and my favorite Funkin!

In this bento:  Strawberries, orange slices, chicken cilantro mini won tons, vegetable gyoza, soy sauce in the airplane sauce container, shrimp, and edamame with a little sea salt.

Poolside Lunches

Summer is here and I am finding myself packing more lunches than I do when school is in session. Between park visits, day camp, and the pool we have been on the go and it makes life easier, not to mention healthier, to bring packed lunches with us.  Here are some lunches we took to the pool recently.  They are similar but vary a little by personal taste preferences.  All of these lunches are packed in EasyLunchboxes and transported in our EasyLunchboxes' lunch tote (you can fit 3 ELBs in one insulated lunch bag).

My girl's lunch:

Mango chunks, butterfly shaped pretzel crisps, plain ham on sourdough half sandwich, and watermelon slices.

Mom's lunch:

Watermelon chunks, Cheez-It's, ham and marbled cheese sandwich with banana peppers inside, and a dill pickle.

The little guy's lunch:

Mango chunks, star shaped cheese crackers, ham and mozzarella cheese on sourdough half sandwich, and watermelon slices

*Unfortunately the jumbo silicone cups that I used in these lunches are no longer available :(

Day Camp Lunches & Snacks - A Roundup

Summer is here and I still have to work, so off to summer day camp my daughter goes.  I have some day camp lunches from various days throughout this past year to share that will hopefully give you some fun ideas for what to pack for camp.  I prefer to pack camp lunches and snacks in my less expensive bento boxes from Target or Daiso Japan just in case they don't return home.

The day camp that we attend requires everyone to bring one lunch and two snacks.  Let's start with today's.

Lunch:  Prosciutto wrapped cheese sticks, pita crackers, cotton candy grapes (seriously amazing!), and baby carrots.

Snack 1:  Chocolate chip bunny grahams with a few regular chocolate chips mixed in for fun.

Snack 2:  Strawberry and apricot slices.

Lunch:  Mini turkey sandwiches with animal faces stamped on the bread, yogurt covered star cookies, plantain chips, and carrot slices.

Snack 1:  Cherries, cucumbers, and apple slices.

Snack 2:  Edamame, blueberries, and crackers.

Lunch:  Elmo shaped ham sandwich, Sesame St cheese crackers, and strawberries.

Snack 1:  Baby carrots and Mandarin oranges.

Snack 2:  S'mores gold fish

Lunch:  Salami and tortilla roll-ups, pretzels, and orange slices.

Snack 1:  Cheez-Its and a mango coconut chocolate.

Snack 2:  Cucumber and strawberry slices.

The last photo is snacks only.  I could not find the photo of the lunch that went with these snacks.

Snack 1:  Cinnamon graham crackers and strawberries.

Snack 2:  Cucumbers (the leftover cucumber scraps from cutting out the stars are in the blue cup) and gold fish.

Psst....It's Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th!  I was searching through my computer files and found this lunch that had not been shared yet.  It is the school lunch version of the severed finger muffin tin meal.  I thought it would be fun to post today :)

In this bento:  Carrots, hot dogs with onion finger nails, edamame witch fingers, cheese sticks, blackberries, and pomegranate seeds.  The food was hand carved to resemble creepy severed fingers.

When I packed this lunch I referred to it as the Roman finger lunch since the edamame around the cheese stick fingers give it a Romanesque feeling - LOL!

You can't have Friday the 13th without a Jason Voorhees appearance so I am bringing back this Jason bento today.  Click the image for details on this lunch.
