Olaf from Frozen

"Do you want to build a snowman?"  Like many other young children, my daughter is a little obsessed with the Disney movie Frozen.  We have watched it at least once a week since it was released on DVD.  I wanted to make Olaf and have seen so many cute ones made from onigiri (rice balls).  I wanted to make my Olaf a little different so I decided to try and make him out of sandwich balls.  This is the first time I have attempted this technique.  I used this tutorial from Kendra at Biting The Hand That Feeds You.  I was pleased with how he turned out and my daughter was thrilled to have a Frozen themed bento.

Olaf is made from sandwich balls that are stuffed with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff.  He has marshmallow feet, chocolate chip buttons, cocoa almond spread smile with marshmallow teeth, carrot nose, and candy eyes.  The eyebrows are also cocoa almond butter and were drawn on with a toothpick.  His hair is a raisin cut into three hair sprigs.  His arms are pieces of the grape stem.  In the background there are red grapes on the bottom and penguin shaped crackers on the top.

"Hi everyone I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs!"

  1. Olaf's song is the BEST song in the entire movie, am I right?! Totally under-appreciated! Great job here, btw!
