The Cat In The Hat

I made a cat in the hat bento in honor of  Dr. Seuss's birthday.  His birthday is officially on March 2nd but this year it (also know as read across America day) is being celebrated on Friday March 1st.

Left Box:  The cat's hat made out of apple slices, blackberries, and pepper rings.

Right Box:  Leftover pasta salad (I thought it went well with the theme because of its wonky shape) and the cat in the hat himself draw onto a corn tortilla.

Happy Birthday!

Today is my daughter's fourth birthday.  I made her a "birthday" lunch for preschool tomorrow.

Left side:  Peanut butter and banana sandwich with a drizzle of honey and goldfish.  The number 4 is from a piece of fruit roll up. I sprinkled the top portion of the sandwich with yellow cupcake sugar to give it a little shimmer.

Right side:  Cherry tomatoes, orange wedges, and strawberries.

I packed this in our Hello Kitty shaped bento box since the party was Hello Kitty themed.

Here are some photos of the cute cupcakes.

The cupcakes were so easy! The cupcake decorations are Hello Kitty marshmallow treats I found  at Target while I was cruising the Easter aisle!

Presidents' Day

It is Presidents' Day and lets face it, the presidents that I am most familiar with are the ones that I see everyday printed on our money!  Now, I am not talking about the large bills.  I am talking coins.

I really am not that great of a drawer but I do my best.  Roosevelt did give me quite a challenge!  I had also planned on drawing Lincoln in brown but forgot at the time and I was not re-doing him.

Left compartment:  Carrots, coin peanut butter sandwiches.

Top right:  Blueberries and mini star strawberries.

Bottom right:  Yellow pepper rings, black olives, and cherry tomatoes.

In case you are not as familiar with the coins as I am, here is the run down:

Quarter -  George Washington

Nickel - Thomas Jefferson

Penny - Abraham Lincoln

Dime - Franklin D. Roosevelt

Happy Presidents' Day!

Today's lunch is a star themed lunch made from leftover blue corn pancakes.  These pancakes were my husband's creation.  Since it is still national pancake week, I thought it was fitting to use his leftover pancakes in this lunch.

Top Box:  Carrot sticks, black olives, star fruit, and strawberries.

Bottom Box:  Leftover blue corn pancakes, syrup, and peanut butter in the red container.
